Blue Dog Democrat Joins Ranks Of Democrats Questioning Calls For Oil Tax Hikes

Today, Rep. Dan Boren, a prominent Blue Dog Democrat, had some harsh words for the President’s leadership on helping Americans cope with rising gas prices. In Oklahoma’s Tulsa World, Rep. Boren portrayed President Obama as completely uninformed about the oil and gas industry and questioned his calls for higher taxes.

Rep. Dan Boren Described President Obama As Complete Uninformed On The Oil And Gas Industry. “Boren described Obama as completely uninformed about the oil and gas industry. ‘The industry is not made up of just major companies,’ he said. ‘It is made up of small independent firms like those in Oklahoma that produce a vast majority of our domestic production.’” (Jim Myers, “Oil Tax Breaks Needed, Congress Members Say,” Tulsa World, 4/27/11)

  • REP. BOREN: “If the president doesn’t want to stand up and be a leader, then his silence would be appreciated from people who are trying to find solutions.” (Jim Myers, “Oil Tax Breaks Needed, Congress Members Say,” Tulsa World, 4/27/11)

And let’s not forget that Rep. Boren is not the first Democrat to openly question the President’s insistence that we hike taxes on oil and gas producers…
