McCarthy Statement on Latest Jobs Report

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) released the following statement regarding this morning’s unemployment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“This morning’s unemployment report should serve as a wake-up call to the President and Congressional Democrats. The House has passed nine separate bills that can grow our economy, and help create millions of jobs. To date, the Democratic-controlled Senate has not considered any of these bills. Instead, the President and Congressional Democrats are calling for massive tax hikes on small business owners and families. Numerous independent reports tell us what we already know – we can’t tax and regulate our way to a stronger economy and more jobs. Small businesses are America’s economic growth engine, responsible for 70% of all jobs created in this country – we cannot risk further job losses by allowing our job creators to suffer the consequences of higher taxes. It is time for Senate Democrats to take up the common-sense jobs bills passed by House Republicans and put America on a path to a stronger economy.”
