“We just found out last month that almost three times as many Americans gave up looking for work as those who just started a new job. This is a great contrast from the President’s policies that have failed us and continue to fail us to what the Republicans are doing here on the House floor.

“You have just heard from the Leader that our focus has been on small business and the job creation that it generates. I know the President is out on the campaign trail listing five things for Congress to do. I would think the number one item for the President would be to send a message to Senate Democrats: ‘How can you continue to run a business or a country with no budget?’ Three years in a row we have had a trillion dollar deficit, year over year, and no budget produced by the Senate.

“The difference you will see this week is that the House is focusing on accountability. The House is looking at committee by committee, line by line and bringing bills to the floor that respond to the accountability and responsibility Americans expect from their government. We are doing this by looking at our bottom line and finding places where we can be more efficient and rid fraud and abuse from our programs. There is a fundamental difference when you look at the President’s campaign rhetoric and the actual work that is being done on the House floor.”
