Rhetoric vs. Reality on President's 'To Do' List

This week the President is attempting to shift blame for last week’s abysmal jobs report that showed anemic job growth for the second consecutive month – almost three times as many Americans gave up hope looking for work than found a job.

President Obama Attempts To Shift Blame Of Failed Economic Policies On House Republicans. “’I sent Congress a jobs bill and it included all sorts of policies that we knew could grow our economy and put Americans back to work,’ Obama said. But ‘just about every time we put these policies up for a vote, the Republicans in Congress got together and they said ‘no’ …. ‘It’s not enough to give them the list. We’ve got to get them crossing things off the list.’” (Jennifer Epstein, “Obama Chides Congress With To-Do List,” Politico, 5/812)

The President’s rhetoric today may fit his “blame Congress” re-election strategy, but it doesn’t match up with reality back here in the office, off the campaign trail.
