McCarthy Statement on June Jobs Report

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) released the following statement regarding this morning’s employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“This morning’s job numbers are abysmal, and continue the trend of the last few months of disappointing growth. With job creation in June at 80,000, our economy is growing jobs at less than half the rate needed for a full recovery. It is clear that small businesses are being plagued by the economic uncertainty that is holding back private sector growth and new hiring, which is a direct result of the President’s failed economic policies. From ObamaCare to the massive $4.3 trillion tax hike that is set to take effect on January 1st of next year, the President’s policies of overregulation, debt-fueled spending and tax increases are making matters worse for hardworking families and small businesses who are already struggling in this economy.

“If we’re going to turn our economy around and get Americans back to work, we must insert some certainty back into the private sector. Later this month, the House will vote to fully repeal ObamaCare and stop the January tax hike – one of the largest in American history. It’s time for the President and Washington Democrats to take responsibility for the mess they’ve created, and work with House Republicans to move America in a new direction.”
