Solving the Humanitarian Crisis at the Border
Washington, D.C. – Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on passage of the House border supplemental funding bill:
“We have a humanitarian crisis at the border exacerbated by an Administration that has signaled that if you come to this country illegally, you can stay indefinitely. We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. Our laws dictate that individuals cannot enter our country illegally and that those seeking opportunity in America must be admitted through legal means.
“The House passed a border supplemental bill today to responsibly address the problem at hand by increasing border security, dispatching the National Guard, expediting judicial proceedings for illegal immigrants, and providing for basic humanitarian needs at the border. Though the Senate already packed up and headed home, it has a responsibility to act.”
