The House is Focused on Improving the Economy

Washington, D.C. – Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 4, the Jobs for America Act:

“For the past six years, America has been stuck in the worst economic recovery since World War II. Hardworking Americans have been struggling with few jobs and low wages. But we have all the makings of a strong economic recovery if we put the right policies in place. Today, the House passed the Jobs for America Act that will help unshackle the potential growth in our economy that is currently being held back by bad policy. The bill includes separate provisions to revise our burdensome regulatory system, provide tax relief, foster innovation, and help small businesses. Each of these provisions has bipartisan support in both the House and Senate, underscoring that these are obvious solutions and that the Senate has no excuse not to act.

“On a more personal note, I want to to thank Chairman Dave Camp (MI-04) who will be retiring at the end of this year and whose work on this bill and on so many others has been crucial to this House. Dave has been a tireless and principled leader and a great friend to us all. He is irreplaceable and will be sorely missed by this institution.”
