McCarthy Announces Keystone Vote

Washington, D.C. — Today, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) announced at a Republican leadership press conference that the House will pass the Senate’s version of the Keystone Pipeline, and send this legislation to the President’s desk.

McCarthy’s full remarks are below, or watch them online here.

“Thank you all very much.

“A quick announcement: Next week we will take up the Keystone pipeline as passed by the Senate and send it to the President’s desk.

“Second point: There’s no greater contrast than showing what this new American Congress is for and what the President supports.

“His new budget will give the federal government an 11 percent raise by taking more out of the economy in taxes.

“This new American Congress believes in growing America’s economy, not growing Washington.

“That’s why you’ll find the bills on the floor this week and next week—unfunded mandate, going after small businesses. You’ll find in the tax provisions in the next week—charitable giving, section 179, dealing with small businesses’ expenses.

“We believe in growing America’s economy, not growing Washington.”
