Leader McCarthy Statement on May Jobs Report

Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the May employment report:

“After a dismal first quarter where the economy shrank, it’s good to see a month of improvement. But we need more. After so many years of little growth, few jobs, and stagnant wages, America must do more than just take one step forward for every two steps back. The House has been trying to do that, already passing multiple bills this year to boost private sector job creation. The simple truth is our economy could be even stronger if the President would work with us to get these pro-growth bills past the finish line and signed into law. On the top of our list is free trade, and if the President can get more members of his own party to support our bipartisan, pro-growth free trade agenda, that will benefit American workers, families, consumers, and our society as a whole.”
