House Saves Producers from Costly Retaliation

Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 2392, the Country of Origin Labeling Amendments Act:

“Without action, California farmers and ranchers, and other producers could face economic retaliation because of a recent World Trade Organization ruling. To protect our nation’s exporters, the House voted to repeal mandatory country of origin labeling for beef, pork, and chicken. This will save us billions of dollars in possible retaliation from Canada and Mexico so American and Californian agriculture can continue to focus on what it does best: feeding people across the world.”
