The House Calls on White House to Put Forth Strategy to Combat Online Radicalization

Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 3654, Combat Terrorist Use of Social Media Act of 2015:

“For terrorists, no battleground is off limits—especially the internet. ISIS and other terrorist groups continue to use social media as a tool to communicate, fundraise, recruit, and radicalize online. These networks also have the ability to inspire and, in some cases, direct lone wolf terrorists in the West. This bill requires the President to put forth a comprehensive strategy to combat online radicalization and terrorist use of social media. It also requires the White House to come up with a policy to enhance the exchange of information flow between the federal government and social media companies.”
