House Responds to President’s Inaction with Bipartisan North Korea Sanctions Bill
Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 757, the North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act:
“When North Korea claimed to have tested yet another nuclear weapon last week, the response from the Obama Administration was muted. Today, the House responded resoundingly with an overwhelming bipartisan vote to impose new sanctions on the Kim regime. When America doesn’t stand up to dictators, problems around the world only get worse. Foreign aggressors take American inaction as a sign of weakness, and the result is only more instability and insecurity abroad.
“Support for a strong foreign policy is not partisan. Republicans and Democrats want the President to do more because we can’t wait another year for America to start leading again.”
