The House Authorizes Grants to Stop Opioid Addiction
Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 5046, the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Reduction Act:
“The opioid epidemic is pervasive and growing. The House has already passed over a dozen bills to combat the opioid epidemic, and this bill adds to those efforts by offering support to communities across the country to battle drug trafficking, prevent opioid abuse, and aid those addicted in their recovery.
“The grant program established by this legislation would help states, local governments, and Indian tribes to target the opioid epidemic. Representative Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-05) has been a tireless advocate for those affected by opioid abuse, and his work embodied in this bill will go a long way to curbing the harm done to so many individuals, families, and communities across the country.”
