Communications Director Opening

Senior Midwestern moderate member of the Ways and Means Committee, seeks an Communications Director for his Washington, DC office to plan and execute a proactive earned media and digital media constituent outreach strategy. This role requires 2-3 years of previous Hill or political communications experience. This is not an entry level position.

This candidate will be responsible for building relationships with local/national reporters; local TV media markets, radio stations, and newspapers; acting as formal spokesperson for the Congressman; booking and preparing member for interviews; writing talking points, press releases and op-eds; overseeing digital communications outreach including e-newsletter, website, and social media accounts; producing a weekly communications report for the Congressman and provide regular communications updates to staff

The ideal candidate must demonstrate an ability to work well with a team in a small, fast-paced environment while maintaining a sense of humor. Midwestern or rural ties a plus.
