Deputy Legislative Director

Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee seeks a qualified and highly talented individual to serve as Deputy Legislative Director to handle a wide-ranging portfolio of issues.

Qualified candidates must have management experience as well as experience preparing for Committee hearings as well as an understanding of policy across issue areas but will have a specific focus on consumer protection and privacy, housing, and immigration. They will have experience drafting, advancing, and analyzing legislation; monitoring legislative developments; and representing a Member in meetings with constituents and stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have a proven record of turning ideas into legislative successes; and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in an unpredictable work environment.  Strong organizational and time management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a keen sense of humor are also mandatory. 

This is not an entry level position. The preferred candidate must have a strong policy background and substantial legislative experience (3-4 years) on Capitol Hill.
