Evening Round-up: "political malpractice" Edition

2019 Budget
Instead of putting the Senate-passed CR on the Floor to prevent another Trump shutdown, Republican leaders are gearing up to put their CR/border wall funding bill on the Floor for a House vote. But there are some responsible Republicans out there who don’t agree with their leadership that they should shut down the government. Take a look:

Rep. Peter King (R-NY): “Freedom Caucus pressure to shut down the government is irresponsible policy and political malpractice. 21st Century version of Charge of the Light Brigade.”

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL): “I’m going out with a bang with the chaos, uncertainty and the drama that I have come to know and expect out of Congress ... Just to expect anything other than unpredictability out of President Trump is foolish.”

GOP Members on a clean CR: “‘So what if this puts [Trump] in a tough spot.’  Other members echo that sentiment.”

Not to mention, this isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement from a member of their leadership…
Chief Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry (R-NC): “We don’t want to be in the position of a Republican House taking a bill to the president that he’s going to veto, especially on something as important as his number one priority: the wall. So, it’s a tough call but we’re going to do what the president has asked.”

And we know it’s not going anywhere in the Senate:
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME): "Ugh, are you ruining my life?"

Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS): "We're down to almost single digits here… This is not a good situation."

Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY): "No, he won't have 60 votes over here."
