Earlier this week, the Office of Management and Budget released the President’s Fiscal Year 2023 Budget, which harnesses the momentum of the fastest-growing American economy in decades to make fiscally responsible investments into key priorities for the American people that will kickstart economic growth, create good-paying jobs, and lower costs for working families. The President’s Budget renews American leadership abroad and reiterates our commitment to our Ukrainian allies as they counter Russia’s unprovoked, illegal invasion. I look forward to further reviewing the details of the President’s Budget with my colleagues as the House prepares its appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2023.
The House also took action on legislative priorities For The People, passing the Affordable Insulin Now Act, which would cap the monthly out-of-pocket cost of insulin at $35 dollars, lowering costs for the millions of Americans with diabetes. I was disappointed to see so many of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle vote against this critical measure. Further, I brought the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act to the Floor today, where it passed with bipartisan support. This legislation would decriminalize marijuana at the federal level, work to rectify systemic inequities, and address the disproportionate economic impact of the war on drugs on communities of color.
Finally, today’s jobs numbers show that President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ economic policies are delivering for American workers and families. With nearly 8 million jobs created since President Biden took office, and almost half a million of those jobs coming in March alone, our economic recovery continues at an unprecedented pace. House Democrats will redouble our efforts to advance policies that expand economic opportunity for Americans. Just this week, the House voted to go to conference on major, bipartisan legislation to tackle supply-chain shortages, reduce inflationary pressures, invest in education and skills-training for workers, and spur innovation so workers and families have the tools they need to Make It In America.
Sincerely yours,

Steny H. Hoyer
