WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today announcing that the House will consider a resolution on Tuesday to condemn the Trump Administration's actions to undermine health care for millions of Americans:

“The Trump Administration’s ongoing effort to take health care coverage away from millions of Americans and take critical protections away from millions more through sabotage and lawsuits is reprehensible.  Even after a clear majority of voters chose candidates promising to protect the Affordable Care Act, this President and Republicans continue to ignore the law’s broad support and work to undermine its protections.  They do so at the peril of millions of American families that have benefited from its protections and cost-saving measures, including 133 million Americans with pre-existing conditions.

“On Tuesday, the House will consider a resolution introduced by Rep. Allred condemning the Trump Administration’s actions that undermine the Affordable Care Act and threaten the coverage of millions.  I hope Members on both sides of the aisle, including the many Republicans who pledged in advance of the last election not to abandon those with pre-existing conditions, will join in supporting it and making the House’s position in support of the law clear.”
