WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the House passed the bipartisan Farm Bill conference report:

“I’m pleased that the House has finally provided certainty to farmers and those fighting hunger in our communities by passing a bipartisan Farm Bill.  When Republicans’ partisan version of the bill initially failed to pass earlier this year, it was a reminder that a successful Farm Bill requires both sides to sit down and compromise.  This bipartisan legislation does not contain the harmful provisions that would have cut nutrition assistance to those at risk of going hungry and threatened the environment.  I encourage the President to sign this bill into law immediately to provide policy certainty to an agricultural sector already reeling from the loss of export markets in response to the Trump Administration’s trade policies.”
