Legislative Assistant

Rep. Kilmer is seeking a Legislative Assistant to support his efforts to create more economic opportunity for more people in more places. The successful candidate will work closely with the Legislative Director and policy team to manage an active policy portfolio that includes Economic and Workforce Development, Education, Financial Services, Technology, Telecom, AI, Election Security, and Immigration. The Legislative Assistant will also handle the Congressman’s Appropriations Committee work in each of these areas. 

Rep. Kilmer is an energetic and engaged Member of Congress and works with a mature and diverse policy team. He is a member of the Appropriations Committee, the Chair of the New Democrat Coalition, and the Chair of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with New Democrat Coalition staff and Member offices on shared priorities – in particular the Coalition’s work on economic development and future of work agendas.  The LA will be expected to draft legislation, memos/questions for hearings, policy provisions for appropriations bills and reports, and work with our communications team to develop press releases and speeches.

The successful candidate will have excellent research and communications skills, the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a great sense of humor.
