Legislative Assistant Opening

The office of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (MN-05) is seeking an experienced, highly-motivated Legislative Assistant to handle a diverse portfolio of issues, including committee work. Candidates must possess strong writing skills, a good sense of humor, creativity, the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to work collaboratively with both DC and district staff. 

Responsibilities will include drafting and advancing legislative proposals, staffing and briefing the Member in preparation for committee hearings and markups, meeting with stakeholders and constituents, providing vote recommendations, and additional tasks as assigned by the Legislative Director and Chief of Staff.

Previous Hill experience strongly preferred. This is not an entry level position. The selected applicant will be expected to operate under tight deadlines and will require dedication, close attention to detail, and the ability to think outside the box. Non-traditional work hours and occasional travel required.
