LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANT OPENINGS – REP. LAUREN UNDERWOOD

Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14), Vice Chair of the Committee on Homeland Security, and member of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs and the Committee on Education and Labor, seeks two highly motivated Legislative Assistants. Responsibilities include managing and executing the Member’s legislative agenda within one of her Committees as well as a broad portfolio of issues. Candidates with a background in veterans issues, homeland security, health care, agriculture, or tax and budget issues are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities of this position include drafting and analyzing legislation, conducting research, drafting policy memos, meeting with constituents, and staffing hearings. The ideal candidate will be creative, ambitious, collaborative, self-starting, thorough, and curious.

Hill experience is preferred, and Illinois ties are a plus, but not required. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
