Legislative Correspondent Opening

Moderate, southwestern Democrat seeks an enthusiastic, highly organized, creative, and self-motivated professional to serve as a Legislative Correspondent (LC) in the Washington, DC office.

Responsibilities include overseeing a high-volume constituent mail program, monitoring the flow of incoming and outgoing mail, responding to all constituent correspondence in a timely manner, managing intern correspondence work, researching legislative issues, and working with the legislative staff to maintain a proactive constituent outreach operation.  Additionally, this position will have the opportunity to assist the Legislative Director and Legislative Assistants on a portfolio of legislative issues—primarily health care and social services.

Any interested candidate must be an excellent writer, have a demonstrated interest in legislative issues, be detail-oriented, have the ability to manage multiple and competing tasks, and have excellent organizational and proofreading skills. New Mexico ties, Capitol Hill experience, and experience using Fireside are strongly preferred. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
