The Committee on House Administration Democratic Staff seeks an Oversight Counsel. Applicants must have a J.D. and relevant policy or professional expertise in at least one of the following areas: oversight work, project management, or the operations of legislative branch agencies.
Responsibilities include: serving as a resource for Democratic Members of the Committee on House Administration on matters of law and policy; drafting legislation; coordinating hearings and witnesses; preparing Members for hearings and markups; drafting statements, memos, and briefing materials; and collaborating with other House offices.
A strong background in the relevant area of expertise is required. Exceptional research and writing skills, sound political judgment, and the ability to work closely and collaboratively with other congressional offices and stakeholders are essential. The Oversight Counsel will work closely with the Committee’s General Counsel in executing the oversight role. The ideal candidate will have Capitol Hill experience.
