Professional Staff / Counsel - House Committee on Homeland Security

House Committee Chairman seeks individual with at least two years of substantive executive agency or legislative experience to join staff and help hold the Trump Administration accountable with respect to immigration and border policies and programs.  This individual, under the director of a Subcommittee Director, would be responsible for staffing the Chairman and Committee Democrats on matters within the staffer’s portfolio and making contributions to hearings, briefings, markups, and other Committee activities. The staffer would be expected to carry out oversight of programs and activities within the Committee’s purview; develop and advance legislation responsive to oversight findings; contribute in a timely manner to communications efforts; and developing and maintaining relevant stakeholder relationships.  Candidates with a security clearance (or have held a security clearance within the past five years), immigration and border security policy experience, or knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Process should highlight such information.  This position requires excellent writing, research, and communications skills and the ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
