Senior Washington state member of the Transportation and Infrastructure and Armed Services committees seeks an Communications Director for his Washington, DC office. This position will be required to plan and execute a proactive earned media and digital media constituent outreach strategy.
This candidate will be responsible for building relationships with local/state/national reporters; local TV media markets, radio stations, and newspapers; acting as formal spokesperson for the Representative; booking and preparing member for interviews; writing talking points, press releases and op-eds; overseeing digital communications outreach including e-newsletter, website, and social media accounts; producing a weekly, monthly and yearly communications report for the Representative.
Knowing the District and understanding the issues in the District is a must. This role requires 2-3 years of previous Hill or political communications experience. This is not an entry level position.
