“We are pleased to release these updates, which are the result of feedback from House Democratic offices who regularly use the Resume Bank to hire staff,” said Whip Hoyer.  “The Resume Bank is a great resource, especially for our large incoming class of Freshman Members, and it improves House Democrats’ hiring process and strengthens staff diversity. The Resume Bank continues to advance our commitment to openness, transparency, and equal opportunity.”
The new updates launched today include:

3. Install “Dem Resume Bank.”
  • Completely re-built Resume Bank platform with a new modern design and significant speed improvements when searching and browsing resumes.
    • Users can use search facets to quickly drill down Resume Bank applicants. Search results are fast and typically update dynamically within a second.
    • Advanced full-text keyword search. Quickly find a user by their name, or by searching for keyword text within their bio or resume.
  • New saved alerts functionality allowing Democratic staff to receive email alerts for any search criteria, where they will receive daily, weekly, or monthly email digests with any new resumes matching their search criteria.
  • The Resume Bank now graphically embeds all the resumes on-page and in search results, instead of only through download links.
  • New ability for all submissions to also be shared with the new House Democratic Diversity Initiative.
  • New fields, including:
    • Brief Bio – for applicants to describe themselves in 250 characters or less.
    • New positions for Digital Assistant and Digital Director, to reflect House Democrats’ growing number of dedicated digital staffers.
Individuals who have previously shared their resume in the Resume Bank are encouraged to re-apply in order to complete these new fields. As long as applicants use the same email, previous recommendations will be preserved.
Democratic offices are encouraged to use the Resume Bank to supplement their hiring procedures.

Current House Democratic staff are encouraged to leave recommendations on behalf of applicants that they support. Incoming Freshmen Members and staff will be shown how to use the Resume Bank during orientation, including how to install the new app.

First launched in November 2012, House Democrats’ official Resume Bank has been a significant success with over 8,000 resumes submitted, over 7,000 unique visits by House Democratic staff to browse resumes, and over 500 personalized recommendations left on resumes from current offices and staff. The Resume Bank has been a driver of diversity, as evident by over 3,000 queries performed on demographics data field when current House staff browse resumes. The Resume Bank was updated previously based on feedback from users in December 2012, November 2014, and November 2016.
