Representative Terri Sewell, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, seeks Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent for a position in a fast-paced and highly engaged Washington, D.C. Office. The candidate will be responsible for drafting constituent correspondence, maintaining a high-volume constituent correspondence system, greeting visitors, driving the member, assisting with the management of the intern program, managing tour and flag requests, maintaining office supply orders for both Washington and district offices, compiling weekly mail reports, and assisting legislative and press staff with research, special projects, and various other duties.
Qualified applicants must possess excellent writing and communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to manage a robust workload efficiently. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, who is able to work under tight deadlines and complete tasks independently. A clean driving record, reliable access to a vehicle, and a willingness to drive the member is required. Candidates must be able to work extended hours as needed.
