U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal’s HARTFORD, CT office seeks a deputy press secretary to assist the state communications director with managing and coordinating in-state media activities. Successful candidate will be responsible for preparation of various written materials, including, but not limited to, background materials, press advisories, and press releases; assisting with the planning and preparation for news conferences and events; maintaining relationships with local news media outlets; and other duties related to press operations and other office responsibilities. Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule that accommodates the needs of the Senator’s schedule and those of the office. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of press and/or political or public communications experience. Prior experience in government or political or advocacy campaigns strongly preferred.
