U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal’s HARTFORD, CT office seeks a deputy press secretary to assist the state communications director with managing and coordinating in-state media activities.  Successful candidate will be responsible for preparation of various written materials, including, but not limited to, background materials, press advisories, and press releases; assisting with the planning and preparation for news conferences and events; maintaining relationships with local news media outlets; and other duties related to press operations and other office responsibilities.  Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule that accommodates the needs of the Senator’s schedule and those of the office.  Ideal candidates will have at least two years of press and/or political or public communications experience.  Prior experience in government or political or advocacy campaigns strongly preferred.  The office is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team, is an equal opportunity employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Interested candidates should send a resume, cover letter, two writing samples and reference list to senate_employment@saa.senate.gov indicating the job referral number in the subject line.
