Communications Director

Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) is seeking a communications director to serve in his Washington, D.C., office.  Responsibilities include designing and implementing a proactive communications strategy; handling daily media inquiries; writing press releases, opinion pieces, speeches, and newsletters; building relationships with local and national media contacts; pitching stories to the media; overseeing the Congressman’s web and social media presence; working closely with legislative staff to effectively message policy issues; as well as planning and managing community events. 

 

Qualified candidates should possess at least 3 years of political communications experience, impeccable writing and editing skills, experience speaking on-the-record, comfort with social media platforms, and an ability to produce high-quality work in a fast paced environment.  Rhode Island ties and experience working on National Security-related issues are a plus.
