Legislative Aide

Congressman A. Donald McEachin (D-VA-04), a member of the Hampton Roads region, which includes a large military presence, seeks a legislative aide in his Washington, D.C. office to manage his national security, defense, foreign affairs, veterans affairs, and infrastructure portfolios. Responsibilities include developing and planning legislative initiatives; monitoring legislative developments; supporting the appropriations process; developing and advancing legislative priorities; writing policy memos and talking points; and working directly with stakeholders and constituents.

 

This is not an entry-level position and prior Hill experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate has excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Candidates should be team-oriented and have a positive attitude. Virginia ties are a plus.
