Legislative Assistant

Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) seeks an enthusiastic Legislative Assistant to handle a broad portfolio that includes issues related to the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, House Oceans Caucus, as well as Transportation, Natural Resources, and other issues to be assigned. The office is currently operating with a hybrid telecommuting/in-person schedule, but this job will be full time in the Washington, D.C. office once it’s safe to fully reopen. Ideal candidates must demonstrate superior knowledge of the legislative process and work well as part of a dynamic legislative team. Attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, efficient multi-tasking, and strong writing skills are critical. Developing and managing a legislative agenda while working closely with the member and outreach team in the district is a priority for this position. Job responsibilities will also include drafting floor statements, hearing questions, legislative memos, and representing member in meetings. 

This is not an entry-level position. Prior Hill or climate policy experience is preferred. Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and members of other underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Oregon ties are a plus, a sense of humor is greatly appreciated. Annual salary range is $50,000 - $58,000, expected start date is early August.
