Communications Director/Speech Writer:

Progressive Georgia democratic member of Congress seeks experienced, hard working team player with outstanding writing skills and sound political judgment to serve as Communications Director / Speech Writer in the member's Washington DC office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the communication team, drafting speeches, talking points, press releases, floor statements and other written materials; responding to press inquiries; managing and updating official website and social media accounts; creating and distributing e-newsletters and franked mailings; planning press conferences and in-district media events; and developing and implementing media communications and public relations strategies. This is not an entry level position. 

Candidates must be highly flexible, dependable and extraordinarily organized as well as possess a working knowledge of issues facing Congress, strong oral and written communications skills, a proven ability to right quickly and crisply with a talent for creatively researching and succinctly describing complex issues in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate would have Georgia ties at least three years of on the record professional communications experience (campaign experience preferred), significant speech writing experience, working knowledge of issues relevant to Georgia and a strategic understanding of progressive issues and policies. Understanding of the jurisdiction of transportation infrastructure and House Financial Services committee a plus.
