Legislative Assistant

Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (VA-10), a member of the Appropriations Committee and the Budget Committee, is seeking a highly-motivated, experienced Legislative Assistant to cover a broad legislative portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience as a Hill staffer, a good knowledge of congressional process and procedure, awareness of Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley, and have the ability to maintain strategic relationships with constituent organizations. Job responsibilities will include: closely tracking legislative activity included in the portfolio; representing the Member in meetings; and drafting floor statements, hearing questions, and legislative memos. A successful candidate will be extremely organized; passionate about public service and the Member’s legislative agenda; eager to learn, grow, and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment; and have the ability to digest information with a political and ideological lens that is appropriate for the office.

This is not an entry-level position and prior Hill experience is required. Virginia and district ties are a plus. Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, new Americans, and members of other underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
