Congresswoman Bonamici is seeking a Legislative Director and Counsel. The LD will closely manage all aspects of the policy shop, including direct management of Legislative Assistants and Legislative Correspondent, in addition to working closely with the Chief of Staff, District Director, and Communications Director. The LD is responsible for the development and implementation of a successful policy strategy to further the member’s goals both in D.C. and in the district. A focus on communication and teamwork is a key component of this position. The LD has a legislative portfolio with a focus on education and possibly other issues. The LD also tracks and manages records, including legislative meetings and votes, and must be highly organized. Qualified candidates will have experience working in a fast-paced office environment, an in-depth knowledge of the legislative process, superior writing abilities, and a positive attitude. Good judgement, flexibility, analytical skills, and success in advancing policy goals must also be demonstrated.
A law degree is strongly preferred. Please note any Oregon connections.
