Legislative Assistant

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: developing legislative proposals and strategy; preparing memos, floor statements and remarks; generating non-legislative initiatives and in-district event ideas to advance the Congressman’s priorities and representing her at events and in meetings with constituents and outside groups.  Hill experience or equivalent issue experience strongly preferred.  Qualified candidates should have strong written and oral communications skills, sound political judgement, and solid interpersonal skills.  Additionally, candidates need to be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and be a self-starter with a track record of delivering results.  The ideal candidate will have significant interest in voting rights, closing the economic wealth gap, labor, modernizing Congress and racial justice issues. Highly qualified candidates will possess strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills. Moreover, the candidate should possess strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure, knowledge of the legislative process, and be available to work long hours.
