Legislative Correspondent

Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12), seeks an organized, team-oriented Legislative Correspondent to join her Washington, DC office. This position is responsible for managing a high-volume constituent mail program which will include monitoring incoming and outgoing mail; drafting responses and responding to constituents in a timely manner; conducting legislative research; and working with the legislative, communications, and district staff to support the office’s constituent outreach.  A safe vehicle and a good driving record are required for this position.

Applicants should be highly organized and have a working knowledge of legislative issues, impeccable writing skills, attention to detail, an ability to multi-task, knowledge of congressional process and procedure, and awareness of Charlotte, NC and Mecklenburg County. Ideal candidates also possess a strong work ethic, enthusiasm for public service, and a commitment to the Congresswoman's progressive values. The ability to work long hours when the House is in session is required.

Previous Hill experience and North Carolina ties are a plus. Candidates from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds and women are strongly encouraged to apply.
