Congresswoman Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) seeks a Legislative Assistant in her Washington, DC office. The Legislative Assistant will lead the Member’s work on the House Appropriations Commerce-Justice-Science subcommittee, covering a portfolio that includes commerce, justice, science, and other issue areas as assigned. Responsibilities include drafting and monitoring legislation, preparing materials for committee hearings and markups, representing the Member in meetings, working with constituent and stakeholder organizations, and performing other tasks as assigned.
Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of the legislative process, excellent writing and verbal skills, and will have a demonstrated record of time management. Candidates with previous experience handling Appropriations or with Michigan ties are strongly encouraged to apply. This is not an entry-level position.
