Director of Member and Committee Services

Director of Member and Committee Services

The Committee on House Administration Majority seeks a Director of Member and Committee Services.  Among other functions, the Committee manages the daily operations that keep the House of Representatives running.  With respect to Member and committee offices, the Committee sets the budget authorizations for expenses of Members offices and House committees and issues regulations that govern the use of official funds and other administrative and technical functions of the House.  The Committee also works with House officers, support offices, and other legislative branch agencies to provide meaningful outreach to member offices and ensure that the views and needs of Member and committee offices are incorporated into their ongoing work.

Considering the Committee’s unique and important role, and its focus on providing guidance to other offices, this is not a traditional Member Services position.  The Director of Member and Committee Services plays a key role in providing guidance and outreach to other House offices about compliance with House rules and Committee regulations.  The Director also works with colleagues to review existing Committee guidance and regulations, assess new or proposed House rules or standards applicable to House operations, and develop new or revised written guidance for use by other offices.  As such, candidates should be excellent communicators, solid writers, and organized.  They should also have sound judgment, be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and be able to work closely and collaboratively with other congressional offices and legislative branch agencies.  Prior congressional experience is required, and a law degree is strongly preferred.

The Committee is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to, and benefits from, a diverse staff.  Qualified candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.  The Committee determines its workplace staffing policies and procedures, including those regarding in-office/remote work, consistent with the safety guidelines of the Office of the Attending Physician and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Qualified candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to Resume.CHADEM@mail.house.gov and include “Member Services” in the subject line.
