The Office of Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney is seeking an experienced Communications Director based in her Washington, DC office. This is not an entry level position and familiarity with DC, national, and political press as well as political communications experience is required. On the record experience is preferred. The Communications Director reports directly to the Chief of Staff and Congresswoman and works closely with the Legislative Director and New York Chief of Staff. The Communications Director manages a team of three communications staffers and previous management experience is preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the communications team
Fielding interview requests and actively seeking out interview opportunities
Drafting and editing press releases, op-eds, newsletters, talking points, mailers, speeches, social media content
Preparing and staffing the Congresswoman for media interviews
