The Office of Congresswoman Maxine Waters is seeking an experienced Communications Director to develop and implement a strategic communications plan, goals and priorities. This is not an entry-level position. Familiarity with national press, outlets in Los Angeles, statewide in California, and political press, as well as political communications experience is encouraged. The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of senior communications experience either on Capitol Hill, a non-profit, government agency, or industry setting.
The position will be responsible for handling a communications portfolio including: writing press releases, advisories, statements; managing communications strategy; and, developing relationships with members of the local, state, and national media. The successful candidate will also be a self-starter and show initiative, with a positive attitude, problem-solving mentality, and able to work in a collaborative, diverse, high-paced environment. Preexisting relationships with media and Southern California ties are a plus, but not required. Women, people of color, and members of the LBGTQ community are especially encouraged to apply.
