Intern

Intern

The DC Office of Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) seeks in-person interns for the upcoming Winter/Spring 2022 term. The hours are flexible to accommodate students’ hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at least three days a week. Interns are eligible for a stipend, unless they are sponsored by an outside organization. The application deadline is November 30, 2021.

Interns’ responsibilities and duties will vary, but interns will generally be tasked with legislative and administrative duties. The legislative duties range from researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending various hearings and briefings on important legislative issues, and assisting constituents.  Administrative duties include answering phones, greeting constituents and office visitors, leading guided tours of the U.S. Capitol, and working closely with staff on a variety of projects. Interning in Washington, DC provides a unique, first-hand experience of the legislative process. Interns get the chance to learn about all the exciting aspects of our nation’s Capitol while being able to absorb the many functions of a Congressional office.

This office is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, religion, disability, age, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, LGBTQ identification, family status, or military status. Women, people of color, and other members of traditionally underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
