Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03), a Democratic Battleground Member and Member of the Appropriations Committee, seeks a Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent (SA/LC) to join her Washington, D.C. office. The SA/LC will be responsible for the office’s front office operations, constituent correspondence program, internship program, various Legislative Department processes, and other tasks as assigned. While most of the SA/LC’s time will be spent in the office, the SA/LC will have some limited driving responsibilities to transport the Member to or from the airport on fly-in and fly-out days.
Front office management responsibilities include maintaining a clean and welcoming front office and Member office, ensuring prompt and reliable service for all visitors and callers, maintaining office supplies, and other administrative tasks as assigned. Also includes processing tour and flag requests, as well as other constituent services as requested.
Constituent correspondence program responsibilities include strategically batching incoming phone and mail correspondence, writing thoughtful, audience-appropriate letter responses, and managing up to ensure timely approvals and responsive turnaround times for a Battleground, high-volume mail office. Familiarity with Intranet Quorum software is a plus.
Internship program responsibilities include intern hiring, onboarding, training, and day-to-day management, with oversight from the Legislative Director.
Legislative process responsibilities include tracking vote recommendations, processing legislative requests, prepping briefing materials for the Congresswoman, drafting memos, and administrative tasks relating to the Congresswoman’s work on the Appropriations Committee.
The ideal candidate must be accustomed to a fast-paced work environment and have astute organizational skills to manage multiple projects at once with high attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, a can-do attitude, and team-first mentality are required. Under management of the Legislative Director, the SA/LC will work directly with the Congresswoman, Chief of Staff, District Office, and Communications, Scheduling, and Legislative Department teammates to support the office’s goals in service of Nevada’s Third District.
