Legislative Aide

Congressman Bobby L. Rush (IL-01) is seeking a Legislative Aide to cover a diverse portfolio of issues, including oversight, postal operations, and other issues as determined by the office’s needs and in consultation with the applicant’s interest.  This staff member will work directly with the Legislative Director and will coordinate with other teams, including the communications and district teams, when needed.

Responsibilities will include managing the constituent correspondence program, developing and planning new legislative initiatives, taking responsibility for existing legislative and policy priorities, monitoring legislation and floor activity, participating in constituent and stakeholder meetings, and occasional front office/driving duties, as needed.

One to two years of prior Hill experience is required, and Illinois ties are a plus.  This office is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.  Applicants should email a resume, cover letter, two writing samples, and references as individual files in PDF format to Illinois.Resume@mail.house.gov with “Legislative Aide” in the subject line.  No other phone calls, faxes, emails, or walk-ins, please.
