Staff Assistant / Legislative Correspondent

Congressman Mark Pocan (WI-02), member of both the House Appropriations and Education & Labor Committees, is seeking a highly motivated, detail-orientated, and energetic individual with excellent oral and written communication skills for a Staff Assistant / Legislative Correspondent position in the Washington, D.C. office.

Daily tasks include answering telephone calls, conducting and organizing tours, processing flag requests, greeting visitors, aiding the office in various administrative duties, and performing other tasks as assigned.

Additionally, the individual will oversee a high-volume constituent correspondence program and will be responsible for sorting and batching incoming mail, drafting and editing constituent letters, and ensuring responses are sent out in a timely matter.  Familiarity with Intranet Quorum (or similar software) is preferred.

Excellent writing, verbal, and organizational skills are essential along with the ability to be a self-starter while working in a fast-paced environment.  Ties to Wisconsin and Capitol Hill experience are a plus.  A sense of humor is greatly appreciated.
