Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who chairs the Oversight Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy while serving on the Intelligence Committee, Oversight Committee, and Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis seeks an experienced Press Secretary/Communications Director to help oversee all aspects of the office’s communications and media efforts. The ideal candidate will be prepared to work with the Member, communications team, and other staff to implement and execute a communications strategy advancing the Members’ agenda at the national, state, and local levels through securing media coverage across all platforms. This is not an entry level position. A minimum of three years of prior communications experience is preferred, include on the record experience, and ideal candidates will be active managers with strong media relationships, writing skills, and sound strategic judgement.
Strong written and verbal communications skills
On the record experiences as a spokesperson and a track record of managing media relationships
Experience with both rapid response and long-terms communications strategy
Fluency with all major social media platforms
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud programs with particular emphasis on Photoshop and Premiere.
Pitching and securing national TV, radio, digital and print coverage
Managing day-to-day media relations with national, Chicago, and local press while serving as a spokesperson for the Congressman
Overseeing a wide arrange of communications projects including orchestrating press launches, franked digital and direct mail efforts, and planning press events
Assisting in investigations and media-driven strategies
Managing junior communications staffer and press interns
Manage drafting speeches, newsletters, talking points, and social media content and social media growth
