Congresswoman Shontel Brown (OH-11) seeks a Press Secretary to support her active communications team in the Washington, D.C. office.
Working with the Communications Director, the Press Secretary will develop, coordinate, and implement media and communications strategies that highlight the Member’s work and advance her robust online presence. Responsibilities include fielding press requests from local and national media; drafting social media content; creating graphic and video content; maintaining the office’s website; producing the Member’s newsletters; and drafting press releases, speeches, and talking points. The Press Secretary may also be responsible for supervising a Press Assistant assigned to the District Office.
Successful candidates will have excellent oral and written communications skills, a creative and strategic approach to visual and graphic design, an ability to handle multiple assignments on tight deadlines, a desire to hone the member’s voice, a teaming approach to management, and a good sense of humor. Ohio ties are a plus, and previous digital experience is required.
