Legislative Assistant

Rep. Donald McEachin (VA-4)  is seeking a hardworking, motivated Legislative Assistant to primarily assist with the environment, environmental justice and public health portfolio related to the Member’s work on the Environment Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The primary responsibilities for this position will be leading the Member’s existing environmental justice and healthcare initiatives, identifying new areas for legislative action, and coordinating with other Members and outside stakeholders. Additional duties will be assigned based on experience and office needs.

This is not an entry level position. Experience working on issues related to the environment and/or environmental justice and previous experience working in a Congressional office is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is resilient in the face of a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, organized, focused on details, and driven to affect change. The ideal candidate will be proactive in their policy portfolio and comfortable working with diverse sets of constituents, staff, and community and organizational groups.
