Legislative Assistant

The Office of Congresswoman Diana DeGette (CO-01) is seeking a hardworking, motivated Legislative Assistant to manage a diverse portfolio that includes issues in the jurisdiction of several House committees, but primarily in Energy & Commerce and Ways and Means, along with other issues as assigned. This position is exclusively based in the Washington, D.C. office.

The primary responsibilities for this position will be leading and advancing the assigned issue areas, identifying new areas for legislative action, and coordinating with other Members and outside stakeholders. Additional duties will be assigned based on experience and office needs. 

This is not an entry level position. Previous experience working in a Congressional office is required, and experiencing working on consumer protection, technology, telecommunications, tax, trade, health, immigration and/or housing is preferred. Depending on the years of experience or the depth of policy knowledge the candidate possesses, both title and salary may be negotiable. 

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented and resilient in the face of a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate is also proactive and comfortable working with diverse staff, community members and constituents.
