The Office of Congresswoman Diana DeGette (CO-01) is seeking a hardworking, motivated Deputy Chief of Staff & Legislative Director to help manage the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced and high performing legislative office, in particular overseeing the Member’s entire legislative agenda and providing recommendations on all policy positions, legislation, and votes; monitoring the Floor; coordinating with the Member’s caucus and committee leadership; meeting with stakeholders and constituents as needed; and supervising legislative staff including Policy Director(s), Legislative Assistant(s) and Legislative Correspondent(s), as well as front line positions such as the Staff Assistant and interns.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and has a thorough knowledge of the legislative process; possesses strong oral and written communication skills; is organized, detail-oriented and resilient in the face of an ever-changing environment; and has a keen sense of humor. The ideal candidate is also proactive and comfortable working with diverse staff, community members and constituents. Close ties to western states are preferred.
This is NOT an entry level position. At least 3 years of management experience and at least 7 years of legislative experience in a Congressional office is required; and an advanced degree is preferred.
